School Uniform

Introduction

The School Policy is that all children in school should wear school uniform.  The uniform consists of:

  • Sweatshirt/cardigan or fleece with school logo on or plain sweatshirt/cardigan/jumper in burgundy or red, with no hood or other logo on.
  • Plain white collared polo shirt/blouse.
  • Plain black or grey trousers/tailored shorts/skirts/pinafore dresses (no logos or stripes).
  • Summer dresses may be worn in summer months - either red/white or yellow/white checked.
  • A school logo burgundy baseball type cap is available to purchase for summer wear. Other plain caps can also be worn in the summer months.
  • PE kit consists of a plain white T-shirt (no vests), plain black or plain navy-blue shorts, plain plimsolls or trainers. Plain black or navy-blue tracksuit (or separate jogging bottoms and sweatshirt) may also be worn during winter months. No hooded tops.
  • Wellington boots and waterproof coat and bottoms. This can be an all-in-one puddle suit. To be worn during lunchtimes and other outdoor activities as need. To be kept in school.
  • Swimming trunks for boys (shorts not acceptable at pool for health and safety reasons), one-piece swimming costume for girls.
  • No jewellery except watches or small stud earrings (no hoop earrings) may be worn in school, which must be removed by children for all physical activities.  If earrings cannot be removed by the child, then the child will have to temporarily miss the activity.
  • Long hair should be tied back during the school day. Long hair must be tied and secured for PE and swimming.
  • No nail varnish, make-up, hair gel, or hair colours, may not be worn in school.
  • We would recommend that all children have a small book bag and a separate bag for their waterproof clothing.

As well as the above items, children are expected to wear sensible footwear – plain black shoes (no trainers or boots).  Shoes must not have heels in excess of 2cm and be shoes with closed toes.

All items of clothing must be clearly marked with the owner’s name.

The wearing of school uniform is not an option but an obligation. It is expected that parents and children will honour this agreement and make every effort to uphold the desired standard of dress.

Any parent experiencing problems in purchasing articles of uniform should initially contact the Office, speak to our Home School Support Worker  or arrange to meet with the Headteacher. We collect donated uniform to support families in school when needed.
